Baby I can be your motivation.

Mentality is a funny thing. Seems like when your having a bad day, a simple shift in your conscious thought can turn all those little annoyances into funny stories, and all those aggravating personality traits into cute idiosyncrasies.. Positive mentality is just the ability to see your life in a better light :)

With that in mind, the following is a series of ensembles put together inspired by positivity, happy days, and the ability to make the best of anything life throws at you.

Apparently, humans only use 10% of our brains. 10%!! What? Are you kidding me? Imagine all that we could be capable of if we used the whole 100. Suddenly new worlds of opportunities could open that we didn't even know existed.  This thought had me obsessing all day about how incredible we could make each of our lives if we were somehow trained to use the spare 90%. These obsessions eventually, as they always do, turned into pictures in my minds eye. I got all exited about a photo shoot that I could do that I could maybe alter and warp on photoshop using all different kinds of colours and effects and filters and blurs. It could be vibrant and emphatic and exploding with dynamic sparkle!!! Turned out to be a lot harder than I thought. But this is what I got I hope you like them :)

Modesty is a Virtue.

I've always thought that modesty is a virtue in women that people never fail to underestimate. We encourage women to acceptably strip with Lady Ga Ga music video's and magazine campaigns  where the featured models are half naked. Ladies. Come on. If we cant be hot with clothes on then who are we kidding really? I just want things back the way they were. When women were judged by their character not their crotch. Heres a photo shoot I did in a really beautiful church by house.. I turned off all the lights so the only lighting was that of natural sources streaming in through the stained glass windows. I muted the colour slightly to maintain this 'back to basics' feel. I really like the outcome of the shoot I hope you do too :)

For the Modesty Movement ;)

You make me feel like a natural woman.

Some photography I did attempting to capture the beauty of all different skin tones at their purest. They represent not only different skin tones but just different people in general. The pictures were kind of inspired by this Marrianne Williamson quote:

''We were all meant to shine as children do. It is not just in some of us but in all of us. And as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give others permission to do the same.''

Hope you like them :)
I'll be posting more of my work from time to time

Designer Couples

Ah.. The spectacular couples of Hollywood and the glitz life. It feels like you never see such beautiful couples in every day life. Not that this is a reflection of the quality of the relationship.. many of  the below are no more. Torn apart by forces that their seemingly perfect lives couldn't protect them from. However it is not my or any one else's job to analyse their couple productivity. Instead I prefer to simply admire :) Heres a list of some of the fiercest couples in pop culture history.

One : Amber Rose and Kanye West. Bouche as they are, these shades make them look like the King and Queen of the Futuristic Fashion movement.

Two : Katy Perry and Travis Mccoy. I loved these guys, cute as buttons. The the Hansel and Grettle of today's Designer Couples. And who is the gingerbread house witch in this story? Two words. Russell Brand. *shudder*

Three : Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush. Definitely one of the hottest couples out there. A lot of which is down to the fact that Kim is one of the most coveted women on the planet!

Four : Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green. My personal Favourite. I sometimes just type their names into google. :) I don't care people! I. Like. Pretty things!!

Five : Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Of Course, 'Brangelina'. Like they wouldn't make the list! Had you worried there didn't I :)

There you have it. No couples were harmed in the making of this post :) Hope you like it I had fun making it.

Pretty Stillettos

Stilettos, baby. Argh I love to look at them.  I don't care how expensive they are. I don't care how outrageous. I don't care if I can't walk in them. I don't freakin' CARE. Let me just stare.

                             ahhhhhh. Valentino.

Rahh. Spiked, studded Louboutin.

Prada's beautiful sky-scraper hight Stilettos. Just. yes.

But ouch. Yet she still looks fierce? It's the shoes.

As always, Taking it to the extreme - Alexander McQueen.
(Not exactly wearable)

But still.

Today's moral?

Much Love

Pilot: Then and Now

Here at DirtyGum I am new to the blogging experience. But my ignorance will not contain my desire to share with you what I like to call, 'Dirty Gum'. The kind of gum not chewed by the every day Nilly Normal. A subtly dark new side to the mainstream pop culture world, delivered to you in a new flavour and colour every week. Todays colour? Violet.

The death of violet eyed Elizabeth Taylor has left me doing just what her life had. Appreciating. On that note, here lie the little pieces of influential fashion (forgetting for just a moment that she was so much more than just that) that Taylor has left behind of herself.

The bralet and high-waisted shorts number.

The dark, thick eyebrows and lashes.

The white One-Peice.

And of course, the big jewellery.

Thank you, Liz Taylor.
